Too Good Tuba True

January 2008
Duration: c. 2.00
Instrumentation: Solo Tuba
Dedication: John Stevens and Stanley Figaro

Program Notes

During February 2008, Dr. Arthur Jennings and I worked together with other music groups in order to bring John Stevens as a guest tubist to the University of Florida. By this time, I also had spoken to my dear friend Stanley Figaro about writing a piece for his senior tuba recital. When I began to write Too Good Tuba True, I had two dedications, so the piece is “written for John Stevens” and “dedicated to Stanley Figaro.” The piece is based on mutations of an all-interval tetrachord.
